I came to know of Kadence's services through another dog walker and pet sitter who was too busy to take me on. We met, conversed about my needs and chatted a bit for me to get a feel for the kind of person I would be entrusting the care of my 14 year old retired guide dog to.
Kadence was clear, straight forward, with no pretension, and they possessed the common sense and excellent observational skills that anyone I hired would have to have. I hired them on the spot.
I have always been very particular about how people handle my guide dog when she is in their care. Now at her advanced age, I am even more protective of her because I do not want anyone pushing her limits and putting her at risk for injury. I walked with Kadence a few times to see how they spoke to my dog, and to help my dog get acquainted with them. A few nights later Kadence said, "I think she will go with me without you". She did, which is rare. They walked off together as comfortably as can be. This was quite the relief, since I needed the help as my own health was being seriously challenged.
Any instructions or cautionary tones I might have tried to impart, I quickly figured out were unnecessary with Kadence. They immediately were able to assess my dog's temperament and abilities, and I am never anxious when they are out together. They are attentive to her movements, and other things like her needing a combing, which they offer to do without any prompting.
Kadence is very clear with dates and times and will always get back to you promptly by text message. There are no last minute cancellations and any break in the schedule is put forward weeks in advance. Not the least of my concerns was who I can trust with a set of keys. By the second visit with Kadence, and after a brief conversation, I gave them my full trust to handle my dog under any circumstance and I trusted them with a set of keys. In the many months Kadence has been walking my dog, Louise, all of this has remained true.
I can also say that I am personally fond of Kadence due to their compassion towards animals and the humans who love them.

Kadence walks my dog Igor for me when I am out of town. Igor is a small guy with big feelings about the world, so when I first set out to find a dog walker for him, I knew that I needed to find someone that understood reactivity. When Kadence came highly recommended by a trusted local trainer, I knew we would be in good hands. Kadence is so sweet and patient with Igor, and I can tell that he feels safe and secure with them. Having worked with reactivity, Kadence was also able to suggest some management strategies that we continue to implement on a regular basis. Kadence is reliable, communicative, and scheduling is easy. Igor and I are so happy that we found Kadence!

Hi, I am an 86 pound long haired German Shepherd. People look at me and are often frightened. When Kadence met me, they weren’t afraid. They were welcoming, happy and understanding to meet me. I felt immediately comfortable and safe with them. I knew we would become friends. They also knew exactly where to pet and scratch me to make me feel good. Best of all, I learned that Kadence loves to play as much as I do!
They will run around our large backyard, kicking a soccer ball or throwing one of my smaller balls, for me to chase. When there was snow, Kadence would throw snowballs for me to catch. They also play with me in the house.
When it’s time to go for a walk, they know exactly how to walk me. I feel confident with them. They don’t let me walk too fast and have taught me how to walk right by their side.
They like to teach me things and I enjoy learning. I trust them and so does my owner. They slept over a few times and always left the house looking good, putting away all my toys.
I look forward to visits with Kadence. I know that they will keep me safe and I will have a wonderful time.
